Movie: Nim's Island
While the rest of the world became reaquainted with Indiana Jones, my Memorial Day weekend ended with the disappointment that was Nim’s Island. My kids would have enjoyed it, especially my daughter. (If they had not hopped a plane for the States earlier in the day, I’d have taken them to see it.) But I found little to wax enthused about. I especially hated the lame cardboard...
Today, I recieved a large envelope from the Internal Revenue Service. It was way too big to be my refund check. Besides, I had requested direct deposit. Sure enough, it was a request to submit an additional form. The letter said I had to respond within 20 days of the letter’s date.
It was dated May 6th.

Movie: What Happens in Vegas
My summer movie-watching season opened with What Happens in Vegas. (Why? Well, because Iron Man has not landed here yet, but that’s another story.) As romantic comedies go, it was standard fare. I think Owen Gleiberman nailed it when he wrote, “the film goes flat the moment it turns friendly.”
